cyberbullying

Using phones, apps or games to hurt, embarrass or threaten someone, like mean comments, group chats that exclude, shared screenshots or fake accounts.

That group chat about him is straight-up cyberbullying.

For parents and educators

Kids rarely use the word itself. They say things like "drama", "getting roasted" or "exposed". Signs to look for: hiding the phone, mood changes after being online, or not wanting to go to school.

If you’re worried

Stay calm, save evidence, help your child block and report, and tell the school. Kids Help Phone: 1-800-668-6868 or text 686868. In crisis, call or text 988.

Where it came from
