KMS
Short for "kill myself." Almost always used as exaggeration for embarrassment or frustration.
I forgot my presentation at home, kms.
In most texts this means "I'm so embarrassed" and is not a literal statement. Pay closer attention if it shows up often, without a funny trigger, or next to other signs like sleeping a lot, dropping friends or talking about being a burden. A low-key question works better than a reaction: "You say kms a lot lately. How are you actually doing?"
Call or text 988 (Suicide Crisis Helpline) any time. Kids Help Phone: 1-800-668-6868 or text 686868. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
Long-standing texting shorthand that stayed popular in group chats and comments.
