🐍
A fake friend, someone who betrays you or talks behind your back. Calling someone a snake means the same.
She told everyone what I said 🐍
For parents and educators
Some friend groups use it as a joke. A row of snakes under one kid's posts is a way of ganging up and calling them out.
If you’re worried
If your child is getting snake emojis piled on their posts, ask what happened in the friend group and help them mute, block or report. Kids Help Phone listens any time: 1-800-668-6868 or text 686868.
Where it came from
The snake as a traitor is old. The emoji spiked in 2016 when fans flooded a pop star's comments with it.
