skin
An outfit or look for a game character. It changes appearance only, not how well you play.
Can I get the new skin? Everyone has it.
For parents and educators
Skins cost real money and carry social status, which is why the asking can be intense. A spending limit agreed in advance helps.
Where it came from
Game slang for the visual layer over a character, huge since Fortnite.
