gosser

To fiddle with something, waste time on little things, or bug someone. 'Arrête de me gosser' means 'stop bugging me'.

J'ai gossé une heure sur mon ordi pour rien. (I fiddled with my computer for an hour for nothing.)

For parents and educators

Casual and common. It is close to a rude word for testicles ('gosses'), so some adults find it a bit crude, but kids use it freely.

Where it came from

Originally Québec for whittling wood with a knife.

Also heard as

gosser après, gosseux
