A note for families: Roblox games

Connect Ages 10-14 Last checked October 18, 2026

What it is

Roblox is a platform full of user-made games that most kids play daily and that top creators on YouTube keep turning into videos, so it is an easy way to start a conversation about what your child plays.

How much it matters

Harmless. A way into your kid’s world, and something to enjoy together.

Should you worry?

Roblox itself is not a cause for alarm, but it does have open chat, friend requests and in-game spending. Quick things to check together: who is on their friends list, whether they only chat with people they know, and whether purchases need your approval. A warning sign is someone new nudging your child to move the conversation to another app, asking them to keep things secret, or pushing them to spend money. If that happens, stay calm, keep the messages, and block and report the account together.

What to say

“Hey, I'd love to see what you're playing on Roblox. Can you show me your favourite game and tell me who you play it with? And if anyone ever asks you for something weird or wants to chat somewhere else, I'd want to know, and you won't be in trouble.”
