Roblox account locking and player backlash
Creators say Roblox is locking some accounts and players are angry, and videos about a 'gift' for players could be bait for scams, though the details are not yet confirmed.
Should I worry?
So far this is only creator videos with dramatic titles, so we can't say exactly what changed or who is affected. The real risk is indirect: when players are upset about a locked account or excited about a free 'gift', scammers often step in with fake offers to recover an account or claim a reward. Warning signs: a message or video promising free items, anyone asking for a password or a login code, or a push to leave the official app for another site. Check the account with your child, make sure the email on it is yours or one you can access, and agree that nothing gets entered on a site reached through a link in a video or a chat. If an account is locked, use only Roblox's official support pages.
How to join in
Kids on Roblox are talking about accounts being locked and a possible 'gift' for players, and the YouTube creators they follow are reacting loudly. For many it's less about the rules than about losing progress, items and time with friends. A good way in is to ask what they've heard, whether anyone they know has been locked out, and what they think the change is about. Letting them explain it to you shows you're interested and makes them more likely to come to you if something odd shows up.
Try saying
“I keep hearing Roblox is locking some accounts and that there's a gift going around. What have you heard? If anyone ever offers free stuff or wants your password to fix an account, show me first. You won't be in trouble, I'd just rather we check it together.”
